Suicide bomber kills two Lebanese soldiers near Syrian border

BEIRUT - A suicide bomber killed two Lebanese soldiers with a car bomb at an army checkpoint in northeast Lebanon near the border with Syria, security sources said.
The attack at the entrance to the city of Hermel, an area where the Shi'ite group Hezbollah has a strong presence, also injured several people.
It follows a suicide bombing of the Iranian cultural center in Beirut that killed eight people on Wednesday. That attack was claimed by a radical Sunni militant group which said it carried out the bombing as a reprisal for the military involvement of Hezbollah and Iran in the war in neighboring Syria.
