Car bomb kills 3 in Russia's Ingushetia province

An explosion ripped through a car in southern Russia's Ingushetia province Sunday, killing three people, police said. The Ingush branch of the Interior Ministry initially said investigators believed the blast, which occurred at a gas station on the outskirts of the town of Karabulak, was caused by a bomb attached to the underside of the car. But it later said the victims were militants, one of them on a federal wanted list, and that they may have been killed in an accident detonation of explosives they were carrying in the car. In Dagestan, east of Chechnya, security forces stormed an apartment Sunday in the capital, Makhachkala, and killed a gunman who was holed up inside, provincial Interior Ministry spokesman Mark Tolchinsky said. Such sieges are frequent in Dagestan.
