Former Argentinian president Carlos Menem was charged on Thursday with disrupting the investigation of the 1994 bombing of the Israeli-Argentine Mutual Association in Buenos Aires. 85 people were killed and about 300 were wounded in the attack, which specifically targeted the large Jewish population of Argentina's capital. Menem, who presided over the South American Republic between 1989 and 1999, appeared before the courts in March, but refused to cooperate with the prosecution. He is also facing charges of smuggling weapons to Croatia and Ecuador during wartime. Indictments have also been filed against other Argentinean officials who were involved in the case, among them the former president's brother.
