Ch. 10: IDF officer accused of rape likely to be indicted

Israeli defense officials told Channel 10 on Friday that there is an increasing likelihood an indictment will be handed down against a top infantry officer accused by a number of female soldiers of sexual assault.

Brig.-Gen. Ofek Buchris, considered a rising star among Israel’s officer corps, will in all likelihood be charged by a military tribunal, perhaps derailing a promising career.

The dramatic development is the result of consultations between the IDF Military Police, IDF prosecutors, and other legal authorities, all of whom say that the accusers’ story appears credible.
