A possible murder and arson in Beersheba has police investigators working the scene of a blaze that broke out behind the city’s bus station on Thursday, during which the body of a young man was found.
Magen David Adom paramedics said Thursday that around 3 p.m. they received a call about a badly burned man found at the scene of a fire near the bus station. A paramedic who arrived at the scene said hours later that they found a young man showing no signs of life and with marks of violence on his body. They very quickly ruled him dead at the scene.
Negev subdistrict police were a bit more cautious, saying that the body was so badly burned they are still unable to determine cause of death and that they still don’t know if the fire was set intentionally. They said that the fire broke out in a construction site behind the bus station, next to the parking garage used by the Metropolitan bus company.
Police said it is still too early to say if the man died in the fire or was killed and placed at the scene. Nonetheless, as of Thursday evening they are treating the case as a possible murder.
