Chicago River turns green as city celebrates St. Patrick's Day

The Chicago River ran green to celebrate St. Patrick's Day on Saturday as musicians, politicians and leprechauns paraded through the streets of the Windy City.
Politicians, residents and tourists later joined the parade through downtown Chicago.
"I love it," said Democratic Senator Dick Durbin. "This is quintessential Chicago: dyeing the river green, bringing in guests from Ireland, going through the drill, I look forward to it every year. It is still cold outside but there are a lot of warm hearts working," he said.
Now in its 55th year, the annual tradition of dyeing the river draws hundreds of thousands of spectators to downtown Chicago, NBC reported.
