Chief Rabbi of Morocco passes away

Chief Rabbi of Morocco Rabbi Aharon Monsonego passed away at the Shaarei Tzedek hospital in Jerusalem early Tuesday morning, Israeli media reported.
Monsonego fell ill yesterday and was taken to the hospital, where his death was pronounced a few hours later.
Monsonego served as the head of the Rabbinical Court in Morocco. He had collaborated with religious authorities in Israel, including former Sephardic Chief Rabbi, the late Ovadia Yosef.
Monsonego has been living in Israel near his children in recent years due to his advanced age and poor health.
