CityPass updates signals for Jerusalem light rail

Ten days before the light rail is set to begin in Jerusalem, CityPass, the conglomerate that runs the trains, announced it had updated 20 of the 100 traffic lights along the route.

The light rail should have priority at each intersection, requiring each traffic light to be updated. Disagreements over the updating caused months-long delays, until an arbitrator ruled the train must run without the updated traffic lights last month. Trains running without the updated lights may take up to three times as long during rush hour, as they are forced to wait.
