Opening US President Barak Obama's Middle East speech on Thursday, Secretary of State Hilary Clinton said that the "president's clear vision, and pure principles" show the "indispensable role [the US] must play in the Middle East."Clinton said "America's leadership is more essential than ever," and that the "US must lead in a new and innovative way." She thanked the State Department, where Obama was speaking, for doing work "engaging with citizens in the streets and through social networks as [Middle East citizens] move from protests to politics."
