Coalition loses vote on child labor bill

The coalition and opposition tied 43-43 on a preliminary vote on bill by MK Yifat Shasha-Bitton (Kulanu) to lower the minimum age for work during the summer from 14 to 13.
The opposition argued vociferously against the bill. Even Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu voiced doubts about it, saying that while the the Israel National Council for the Child supports the bill, he found merit in the arguments against it.
Netanyahu said the bill should pass the preliminary reading, and then be reconsidered, but the coalition and opposition tied, which is equivalent to a coalition loss.
