Comptroller to investigate Danino's farewell parties

State Comptroller Joseph Shapira on Thursday announced that it is preliminarily investigating the possible lavish overspending involved in the farewell parties of recently retired police chief Yohanan Danino which made headlines in recent weeks for sparing no expense.
Shapira's stated that he has received information that Danino held unduly expensive farewell parties in every police station around the country, which beyond being a waste of public funds, distracted police from carrying out their duties.
The comptroller also told acting police chief Benzi Sau that he would investigate the main and heavily reported on farewell party at the National Police Academy and requested information regarding all of the farewell events.
