Some 1,994 new cases of the novel coronavirus were reported in Israel on Wednesday, according to a Thursday morning update by the Health Ministry, with just 5.4% of the tests returning positive results. Of all those currently infected, some 734 are in serious condition and 253 are on ventilators. This is the highest number of patients on ventilators since the beginning of the outbreak. One person died overnight, bringing the death toll to 2,099.
