Culture minister threatens to cut funds after Israeli Arab actor boycotts West Bank show

Miri Regev, the minister of culture and sport, is threatening on Tuesday to cut funding to a theater run by an Israeli Arab actor who is refusing to take part in a performance before an audience in a West Bank settlement.
A prominent Israeli Arab actor is at the center of controversy on Tuesday after he refused to appear in a play that was scheduled to be staged in a Jewish settlement in the West Bank. His refusal prompted Regev to reportedly threaten to cut state funding to a Jaffa theater company that he founded.Norman Issa, 47, a well-known actor, director, and playwright, made waves when he announced that he would not take part in a production of Boomerang, the show in which he stars for Haifa Theater, that was slated to be held in a Jewish settlement in the Jordan Valley.
On his Facebook page on Tuesday, Issa decried the “unfair witch hunt” that was sparked by his decision.
