Danish soldier killed in southern Afghanistan

Danish soldier is killed

The Danish army says one of its soldiers was killed by an explosive device during a foot patrol in southern Afghanistan. The Army Operational Command says the 23-year-old member of a Danish scouting unit was flown to a field hospital for treatment following the Wednesday blast but was dead upon arrival. Denmark has lost 28 soldiers in Afghanistan since it joined the US-led coalition in 2002. The Nordic country has 700 troops serving in the NATO-led force in Afghanistan. Most of them are based in the volatile southern Helmand province.
