Danon: I commend Obama for commitment to defending Israel

Deputy Speaker of the Knesset Danny Danon's said Saturday “I commend US President Barak Obama for upholding the United States' commitment to defending its Israeli allies in the United Nations and declaring that this conflict can only be resolved by the two sides negotiating directly with one another."

Danon was responding to the US veto of Friday's UN Security Council Resolution and the statement by Ambassador Susan Rice.

He went on to say, however, that "Ambassador Susan Rice's statement in the Security Council shows that shows that this administration still harbors a deep misunderstanding about the true obstacles to peace in our region."

"It is high time that President Obama visit Israel so that he can learn firsthand about these important issues," he continued.
