Defense budget set at NIS 56.1b with likely increase

The joint Knesset Finance and Foreign Affairs and Defense Subcommittee on the Defense Budget approved defense spending for 2016 Sunday, keeping it at the amount approved in the first reading of the state budget: NIS 56.1b.
Over the course of 2016, another NIS 3b. are expected to be diverted to defense, on the condition that the IDF takes efficiency measures, which are supposed to save NIS 2b.
