Departing IDF Ombudsman: IDF is not prepared to deal with 'major threat'

Departing IDF Ombudsman Maj.-Gen. (res.) Yitzhak Brick said that "should there be a war now, the national trauma of the 1973 Yom Kippur War will be a walk in the park in comparison" on Wednesday during an interview with Kan News.
Brick claimed that the IDF is ready to engage should threats come from Gaza or Lebanon, but not Syria, which according to him had rebuilt its forces.
"How is it possible to build an army without taking the changes in the Middle East into account?" Brick said, "this is irresponsible on a national scale."
