It is time for religious Zionists to take over the leadership ranks in public diplomacy, as they have in the IDF and other fields, Deputy Defense Minister Eli Ben-Dahan said over the weekend in a speech to returning Bnei Akiva emissaries at the Foreign Ministry.
Ben-Dahan pointed out that there are very few Israeli ambassadors other than ambassador to the US Ron Dermer who are Orthodox and that religious Zionists have much to contribute in the field.
"The time has come for us to lead in diplomacy as well," Ben-Dahan said. "This is the current challenge for the religious Zionist public. To become diplomats and see Israeli public diplomacy as their central mission."
