Deri: Yishai acting too independent

Shas leader Arye Deri criticized his predecessor, MK Eli Yishai, on Thursday for not abiding by faction discipline since he replaced him. Yishai has participated in only 5.7 percent of the votes in the Knesset plenum, second-least of any MK.
“We function as a combative opposition faction, apart from Eli Yishai, who functions as a one-man faction,” Deri told the website Al-Monitor. “He has yet to come to terms with the change. It is still hard for him.
We understand that.” By contrast, Deri praised Shas faction chairman Ariel Attias. “He was a minister from his very first day in politics, so he had no idea what it meant to be in the opposition,” Deri said. “But now he is the faction chairman, and he is doing a wonderful job. He gives speeches, proposes agenda items and is involved in all sorts of opposition tactics.”
