Dov Hanin to head public transport subcommittee

The Knesset Economic Affairs Committee approved on Tuesday the establishment of a public transportation subcommittee, to be chaired by MK Dov Hanin (Hadash). The subcommittee will focus on promoting public transportation use and will closely monitor the development of Tel Aviv's light rail.
"Public transportation is a major social tool – it is critical to the lives of the masses," Hanin said. "Good and efficient public transportation has the ability to encouragement business, make education accessible and contribute to coping with the housing crisis. It can also reduce air pollution in our cities. There is much to do that has been neglected for years."
MK Uri Maklev (United Torah Judaism) will also be a member of the subcommittee, and others will join soon.
