'Drop in number of legal weapons held by public'

The number of legal firearms held by the public has dropped in the last decade, according to a bi-annual report published Thursday by the Population and Immigration Authority.
Sources from the authority said, in accordance with Interior Ministry policy, that they aimed to reduce the number of private firearms held by the Israeli public.
A reduction was also reported in the number of members of the public holding firearms illegally or without a license.
