Egypt: 28-year-old becomes country's first swine flu death

A 28-year-old woman returning from a pilgrimage to Mecca has become Egypt's first swine flu death. Egyptian Health Ministry spokesman Abdel Rahman Shahin said Samah el-Seyyed Salim died Sunday, three days after returning from Saudi Arabia. She had also been suffering from some heart and blood problems which might have complicated her condition. Lebanon's Shi'ite cleric Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah had earlier decreed that Muslims who had serious concerns about contracting swine flu while performing pilgrimage were allowed to stay away this year. The number of cases of swine flu cases in the Arab countries has been growing, with Saudi Arabia recording the highest number of cases.
