Egypt security forces kill nine alleged ISIS-linked terrorists in Sinai

Egyptian security forces killed nine alleged terrorists and wounded eight near the Sinai city of Sheikh Zuweid on Tuesday, Egyptian media reported.
The alleged terrorists were members of Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, which pledged allegiance to Islamic State, reported El-Watan newspaper, which tends to support the regime.
A security source quoted by the paper said that security forces saw intelligence that led security forces to the area and then to clashes with the militants.
Meanwhile, the constant terrorist attacks continue to take a toll on the country’s tourism industry. Only one million tourists visited Egypt in November and December, a drop of 41 percent from the previous year, according to data compiled by Bloomberg and published on Tuesday.
The alleged terrorist bombing of a Russian passenger jet in Sinai on October 31 has caused more damage as countries have subsequently limited flights into the country.
