Egyptian army says eight soldiers, 14 militants killed in Sinai clash

CAIRO - Eight Egyptian soldiers and 14 militants were killed in a confrontation in central Sinai on Saturday, the army said in a statement.
Egypt has been fighting an Islamist insurgency in the northern part of the Sinai Peninsula since President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi ousted Muslim Brotherhood President Mohamed Morsi in 2013.
