Egyptian forces destroy 3-kilometer-long tunnel on Gaza border

Egyptian security forces on Wednesday destroyed a three-kilometer-long underground tunnel it found near the border with the Gaza Strip, Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported.
Egyptian border security guards seized weapons, mortars, lighting instruments and engineering equipment from the scene.
While the entrance to the tunnel was located in the house of an Egyptian smuggler in the el-Barzil neighborhood, an Egyptian security source estimated that the passageway was likely used for "militant" purposes.
An Egyptian security source cited in the report said the passageway was constructed of durable waterproof material.
