Eilat celebrates 62 years since its liberation

Eilat will celebrate the 62 anniversary Tuesday since its independence when revolutionary forces liberated the city, Israel Radio reported.
A ceremony will be held at Umm Rashrash Beach, and will be attended by President Shimon Peres, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, and Eilat Mayor Meir Yitzhak Halevi. Former soldiers in Palmah and Negev brigades that engaged in the city's liberation that liberated the city will also attend the event.
In light of the anniversary, Deputy Prime Minister Silvan Shalom set up a meeting to be held for the Conference of the Negev in Eilat. The prime minister, president, and Knesset members will attend the meeting.
