Eilat man convicted of murdering MDA ambulance driver

The Beersheba District Court convicted David Ben-Shitrit on Sunday of murdering Magen David Adom ambulance driver Mordechai Hahim and sentenced him to life in prison.

Hahim lived in Eilat and lent money to others living there in addition to his job with MDA. A dispute developed between Shitrit and Hahim after the two completed a financial transaction.

On August 29, 2010, around noon, Shitrit came to Hahim’s MDA office. During their meeting, their argument escalated.

Shitrit then acquired a semi-automatic gun and called Hahim at midnight on August 30. The two agreed to meet and when Hahim arrived at the meeting place and got out of his car, Shitrit shot him four times.

Hahim was taken to the hospital where he died about an hour later.

According to witnesses, Hahim lived long enough to tell witnesses that Shitrit had shot him.
