Epileptic teenager dies during EEG at Sheba; human error by nurse may be involved

An 18-year-old girl who suffered from epilepsy died suddenly on Monday night at Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer while undergoing a video electroencephalogram (EEG) to identify electrical disruptions in her brain.
The test usually takes one to two days. The hospital said that the unusual tragic event may have been caused by human failure involving a Sheba nurse.
She will be suspended from her work until after an investigation. The Health Ministry was informed immediately, and hospital officials met with her family, promising full transparency in providing information about her death.
