Erdogan accuses Israel of violating 'rights' with Temple Mount security

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday called on Israel to observe "basic human rights values" after violence erupted over its security measures in the wake of a deadly shooting attack earlier in July at Jerusalem's holiest site.
Earlier this week, Erdogan spoke to President Reuven Rivlin to press for the removal of the metal detectors at entry points to the Noble Sanctuary-Temple Mount compound in Jerusalem's walled Old City.
There have been daily confrontations between Palestinians hurling rocks and Israeli police using stun grenades since the metal detectors were placed.
Israel sent extra troops into the West Bank and used riot gear on Saturday after a Palestinian attacker stabbed to death three Israelis on Friday. Hours earlier, three Palestinians were killed.
