Political solution only way to solve Syrian issue, says Chinese envoy

A political solution is the only way to solve the Syrian issue, China's special envoy to the Syrian crisis said in Amman as he concluded his three-day visit to Jordan on Wednesday.

During his visit, Chinese envoy Xie Xiaoyan consulted with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi about the ongoing crisis in Syria, anti-terrorism efforts, and also discussed the regional situation.

Xie noted that with the Syrian conflict having lasted for over six years, finding a quick fix to end the crisis is not feasible and he urged all parties to continue to work towards finding a political solution.

"The Syrian issue itself is a complex problem, involving many aspects. So, it is relatively difficult to solve it, and I think it can not be thoroughly and completely solved in a short time. Therefore, it needs a little more patience from both Syrian domestic parties, regional countries and international society. But, don't lose confidence," said Xie.
