Erdogan: Suicide bomber was from outlawed leftist group

The suicide bomber who killed a Turkish security guard at the US embassy in Ankara on Friday was a member an outlawed leftist group, Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan confirmed on Saturday.
According to the US National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), The Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C)group wants a socialist state and is vehemently anti-American. Deemed a terrorist organization by both the United States and Turkey, the group was blamed for a suicide attack in 2001 that killed two police officers and a tourist in Istanbul's central Taksim Square.
Turkish daily The Hurriyet reported that the suspect had been identified as  Ecevit Şanlı, a man who has previously spent time in prison.
“The suicide bomber exploded the bomb right after crossing [the personnel entry] and died in the explosion. A birth mark on his head proves [his identity], but DNA tests will be carried out to make sure. It is clear that he is a member of DHKP/C. He has perpetrated such attacks before,” The Hurriyet quoted Erdogan as saying.
