Eshkol regional council head files UN complaint

Head of the Eshkol regional council has filed an official complaint to the UN on Thursday following mortar fire from the Gaza Strip on Wednesday which included white phosphorous shells.
"For nine years, residents of the Eshkol regional council, on the border with the Gaza Strip, have suffered salvos of Kassam rockets and mortar shells, sponsored and fired by terror organizations in Gaza towards innocent civilians living in the area since the establishment of the state of Israel," Haim Yalin wrote in the complaint to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
"I am calling on you to put an end to this hypocrisy," urged Yalin. "In the western Negev, an entire population suffers from the consequences of prolonged fighting in the region, and it must be given consideration."
