EU says summons Turkish ambassador over Erdogan comments

BRUSSELS, March 23 - The European Union's executive said on Thursday it has summoned Turkey's new ambassador to the bloc to explain comments by President Tayyip Erdogan.
In an escalating war of words between Ankara and the EU, Erdogan said on Wednesday that Europeans would not be able to walk safely on the streets if they kept up their current attitude towards his country.
