European shares turn negative on EU summit concern

FRANKFURT - European shares turned briefly negative on Wednesday after downbeat comments from a German politician about the chances for a comprehensive deal at a leaders@@@ summit this week, aimed at resolving the region@@@s debt crisis.
At 13:04 GMT, the FTSEurofirst 300 index of top European shares was up 0.1 percent at 990.18 points after earlier hitting a low of 988.80.
