Evacuation underway after German blast, cause unknown

Residents are being evacuated from a block of flats where an explosion took place shortly before 9 local time (0800 GMT) in the eastern German city of Blankenburg, a local police spokesman said.
Uwe Becker, spokesman for police in the Harz region, said the cause of the blast was not yet known.
