Export of polished diamonds from Israel triples in 2010

Israeli import and export of diamonds rose by an average of 104 percent since January 2010, according to a report released by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor on Wednesday.
Polished diamond exports have tripled, reaching $457.85 million or 280,555.83 carats. The average price for polished diamonds also rose by 18%, to $1,631.94 per carat.
The report said 2010 saw an increase in exports to Hong Kong, accounting for 52% of polished diamond shipments. US, Belgium, India and China rounded out the top five countries for exporting of Israeli diamonds.
