Famed pianist to become Israeli

World-renowned pianist Evgeny Kissin will receive Israeli citizenship in a special ceremony Saturday evening in Jerusalem.
Kissin, 42, who has two Grammy Awards and honorary membership in the Royal Academy of Music, will receive his Israeli ID card from Interior Minister Gideon Sa’ar, Immigrant Absorption Minister Sofa Landver and Jewish Agency chairman Natan Sharansky.
A year ago Kissin told Sharansky he wants to receive citizenship to “fight for Israel not only as a Jew, but also as an Israeli.”
