Fate of Palmahim Beach development postponed 2 weeks

The fate of Palmahim beach, as to whether it will become a resort village or a nature reserve, was delayed two more weeks due to time constraints at a Central District Committee for Planning and Building meeting on Monday. Because the parties ran out of discussion time, they will continue to deliberate on the matter in two weeks' time, according to the Interior Ministry.
After a long environmental struggle against the construction of a hotel complex on the beach, green activists received government support in 2010 that the plans must be reassessed. While the Central District Committee then called for suitable alternatives, a new option has yet to be approved and the developers have yet to receive a compensation proposal.
