Five arrested after consultant for state-owned companies allegedly took bribes

Police on Monday arrested five suspects in a case involving an outside consultant for government and state-owned companies accused of taking bribes to help companies get state-appointed tenders.
The adviser has worked for the Israel Railways Authority and as a consultant for the “Ir Habahadim” IDF training base under construction in the south. Police said they have uncovered no evidence that any officials from either the IDF or the Israel Railways Authority were involved in the alleged bribery scheme.
The investigation was carried out by the special police unit for investigating corruption by public officials and state-run companies, which was formed late last year.
The identities of all five suspects remain banned from publication.
