Former finance minister Hirchson returns NIS 1.73 m. ahead of sentencing

Foreign finance minister Avraham Hirschson on Tuesday returned NIS 570,000 that he had embezzled from the Histadrut which he had previously claimed to have been given as a retirement bonus. Hirchson also returned NIS 1.16 million in 24 post-dated checks. He is expected to be sentenced on Wednesday following his conviction two weeks ago for stealing up to NIS 2.3 million from the National Federation of Workers (NFW) and Nili, a non-profit organization owned by the NFW.
