Former MK elected Meretz secretary-general

The Meretz Party elected former MK Mossy Raz as its new secretary-general at Thursday night's party convention, a Meretz spokeswoman announced Friday.
Raz defeated one of the leaders of the party's young guard, Tomer Reznik. Raz will succeed Dror Morag, who held the post for four and a half years. A former secretary-general of Peace Now, Raz served in the Knesset from 2000 to 2003 and has narrowly missed entering the parliament multiple times.
Meretz leader Zehava Gal-On expressed hope that Raz would help increase the party's influence and reach out to new sectors of the population.
