Former Mossad deputy chief Ram Ben- Barak is considering entering politics and joining Yesh Atid, he told Army Radio on Tuesday.
Ben-Barak said he wants to continue serving the country and improving its security, and that entering politics is one possible way to do it.
“[Yesh Atid chairman] Yair Lapid and Ram Ben-Barak have met but nothing has been finalized,” a spokesman for the party said.
Former Israel Police Investigations Department head Yoav Segalovich has recently joined Yesh Atid, as have the heads of seven regional councils.
Ben-Barak joined the Mossad in 1984 and ended his career there as the agency’s deputy director in 2011. Since then he has served as an attaché in Washington, a guest researcher at the Brookings Institution and director-general of the Strategic Affairs Ministry.
In 2015, he was one of three finalists for the post of Mossad chief, but he lost to Yossi Cohen.
