French forces 'neutralize' 10 militants in Mali operation

ABIDJAN - French forces in Mali "neutralized" around 10 fighters in an operation against the al Mourabitoun Islamist group, which claimed responsibility for an attack on a Radisson hotel in the capital last month, France's defense ministry said on Tuesday.

Fighting took place near the town of Menaka in the night from Dec. 19 to Dec. 20.

"In the course of violent combat that lasted nearly four hours, two pick-ups and around ten motorcycles were seized. Some ten terrorists were neutralized. A large quantity of arms and explosives were seized," the ministry said in a statement.
