In order to turn renewed peace talks into a "genuine opportunity," the government must be prepared to negotiate along the 1967 lines and to compromise on land swaps and borders, Meretz Chairwoman Zahava Gal-On said on Wednesday. "The renewal of peace negotiations between Israeli and Palestinians is an important development, but in order to turn this into a genuine opportunity, the government must understand an agreement must be based on the 1967 line with land swaps and the division of Jerusalem," Gal-On said in a statement to the press."Dialogue that is not based on this outline is not a peace process, but a deception," she added.Gal-On added that because of the opposition of many MKs and the power of the extreme Right, there should not be exaggerated hope for the success of the peace process. The left-wing leader expressed hope that Netanyahu will use this "rare window of opportunity" to make peace, even if the price is the break-up of the current coalition government.
