Gal-On says she will continue to lead Meretz after party rises to 5 mandates in final vote count

Meretz chief Zehava Gal-On said Thursday that she would continue to lead the party after the Central Elections Committee announced that the faction had finished with five mandates, and not four, as a partial count had suggested.
Gal-On had previously said that she would step down from the leadership in favor of Meretz no. 5 Tamar Zandberg if the final count had failed to top four mandates.
"Meretz gained the fifth mandate from young supporters, from IDF soldiers," Gal-On said in a statement.
