Government allocates NIS 55 million to Gaza periphery communities

Labor and Social Services Minister Haim Katz announced on Thursday the allocation of NIS 55 million for strengthening the communities surrounding Gaza. The funds, which will be allocated throughout 2017 and 2018, will primarily go toward building new daycare facilities and bunkers, fortifying existing community centers and funding welfare activities.
“Residents of the South are under constant preparedness for times of emergency, and after an army operation they deal with complex challenges on a personal, social and economic level,” Katz said. “Enhancing welfare activities in the region is necessary, and was designed to help the residents move on from the crisis.”
