BERLIN - The German government has agreed to make a one-off payment of 4.1 billion euros ($4.6 billion) to its regional states next year to help them cope with a record influx of refugees, a source from one of the country's 16 states told Reuters on Thursday.
Chancellor Angela Merkel is meeting state premiers to discuss other ways of helping the states which are struggling to house and look after an expected 800,000 asylum seekers this year alone.
