Gideon Sa'ar appeals against expulsion of illegal foreign workers' children

Education Minister Gideon Sa'ar appealed Saturday night to Interior Minister Eli Yishai and cabinet secretary Zvi Hauser to refrain from expelling foreign workers' families and children, as part of the upcoming large-scale government campaign to drive the illegal aliens out of Israel. "These are children who at large were born in Israel, grew up in Israel, learn in Israeli educational institutions and their identity is Israeli," Sa'ar said of the workers' offspring. At the same time, the minister stressed that he was in favor of reducing the number of illegal workers in Israel "in light of the economic and social importance" of such a move, which must be made "with due discretion, while adhering to humanistic values."
