Golf: Men’s club champs crowned at Ga’ash

It was another exciting two-day 2013 Club Championships for the A and B Divisions at Ga’ash Golf Club over the weekend, with Ashly Silber ultimately emerging victorious in a jam-packed event co-sponsored by Rolex and Mercedes Benz.
Playing on perfectly groomed greens and fairways, the first day of the tournament teed off in perfect weather conditions, although the final round featured strong winds as well as some some rain.
Silber finished the first day with the best score of the tournament with a four over par 74 and while he slipped a little on the second day, his total still managed to top Steve Taylor for the championship.
The net prizes in the A division went to Jonathan Stutson, with Zalman Shahaff a close second.
The B division champion was Lionel Phillips, followed by Shmulik Almagor. Allan Blumenstyk took home the B Division net prize, just ahead of Dani Levin.
Nearest-to-the-pin awards, sponsored by Greenfield at Ga’ash, went to Eli Abramov, Anthony Harris, Zalman Shahaff and Raphy Harroche. In the special 18 hole stableford tournament for over- 70-year-olds, Roz Brodie grabbed top honors with 37 stableford points.
In other Ga’ash news, Devora Deutch aced the par-3 105-meter 4th hole while playing a round with her husband Yaacov and the Ben Haim family.
