Last week marked the first time an Israel Golf Cup tournament was played at the Ga’ash Golf Club with the inauguration of the David Goldenberg – Ga’ash Golf Club Professional.
The tournament was an individual Stableford format with a nine-hole tournament in the morning and an 18-hole competition in the afternoon.
An excellent atmosphere prevailed throughout the day with the players each receiving a sleeve of Titleist balls presented by Ra’anana realtor Laurence Zemour. Other sponsors included Amsalem Global travel management, Yellow Korner art gallery, Titleist, Israel Golf Distribution and the G’aash Golf Club.
The nine-hole morning competition was won by Yaakov Har-Oz, followed by Yoram Bernstein, Ilan Mendelsohn and Benny Meirov.
In the 18-hole tournament, the A Division was won by Ori Elan, followed by Guy Ben Hamou, with Hugo Wainstein and Chaim Shaininger rounding out the top-4.
Meyer Iny captured the B Division, followed by Gill Sadeghi, Albert Levi and Alain Hababou.
Meanwhile, nearly 40 golfers participated in the April Monthly Medal at Ga’ash, with Idan Chayut taking first place in the A Division with a net 69, followed on net 72 by Greg Eliot, who beat Yonatan Stutzen on the count-back for second place.
Yigal Barnea shot a net 65 to win the B Division, with Gadi Bleicher beating Meir Shani on the count-back on net 73 to claim second.
Eddy Hoffman scored a net 67 to win the Super Seniors, with Brian Galgut on net 68 in second place.
The best gross score was played by Cyril Kaufman, with him and Eliot taking 77 shots and Kaufman winning the cup on the count-back.
Also, the Chol Hamoed Pesach family tournament at Ga’ash used a “greensomes” format in which two teammates each drive off the tee, choose the best shot and then play alternate shots till the ball is in the hole (with a minimum of two shots a player.)
First place went to the father-and-son team of Gordon and Shmulik Futeran, followed by father-and-son team of Shmulik and Tomer Almagor.
